about

Two years of Covid restrictions and lockdowns resulted in time to finally draw together numerous small ideas that have been kicking around (spanning a huge time period from the mid 80's until the present) and shape them into fully fledged pieces as opposed to little snippets that I kept going back to when I played the guitar. This is the result and it encapsulates the overriding theme of Life.Love.Loss, something that covers in three words the sum of our existence.

The most surreal thing about the whole process was when the tune "We Are The Gods", which I had sent to Bowies Piano Man Mike Garson after I saw him looking for projects that resonated with him, met with a resounding thumbs up and in his own words "this is great". To have such a legend on board still makes me pinch myself, and hearing him close out the lengthy ending piano solo with his signature "Aladdin Sane" close out never ceases to make me smile.

FabricationsHQ "Best of 2022" roundup - " label owner John Clay’s Indie-rock vibe’d art for art’s sake album Rusty Guitar;"

Velvet Thunder Magaazine - "Classy tracks impeccably played, and some amazing guitar work"

Fireworks Magazine - "Wood sounds so much like Bowie, the structure and tempo of the song could easily make you think it was a Bowie tune"

FabricationsHQ - "We Are the Gods,' featuring vocalist Andy Wood, is a seven–and-half minute slice of avant-garde rock straight out of the Bowie 70s songbook. However its impact is made not from the fact that Wood has a similar vocal tone and phrasing to Bowie of that era, it’s that the great American pianist Mike Garson is heavily featured, including an extended reprise (or reinterpretation), of his classic and famous piano lines from 'Aladdin Sane' (complete with 'Sane sign-off' nod).
